Boris Murmann is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Stanford, CA. He received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley in 2003. From 1994 to 1997, he was with Neutron Mikrolektronik GmbH, Hanau, Germany, where he developed low-power and smart-power ASICs in automotive CMOS technology. Dr. Murmann's research interests are in the area of mixed-signal integrated circuit design, with special emphasis on data converters and sensor interfaces. In 2008, he was a co-recipient of the Best Student Paper Award at the VLSI Circuit Symposium and the recipient of the Best Invited Paper Award at the Custom Integrated Circuits Conference (CICC). In 2009, he received the Agilent Early Career Professor Award. Dr. Murmann is a member of the International Solid-State-Circuits Conference (ISSCC) program committee, an associate editor of the IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits and a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society.
Tom Sparkman, joins IDT on November 21, 2011 as our new Communications Division Vice President and General Manager. Prior to joining IDT, Tom was CEO of Samplify Systems, a leader in data compression technologies, in which IDT was a strategic investor. In addition to bringing Tom to the company, IDT has acquired Samplify’s compression patents for wireless infrastructure.
Tom joined Samplify with more than 20 years semiconductor Sales and Marketing experience, the last nineteen at Maxim Integrated Products, Inc, a $1.8 billion international supplier of analog and mixed-signal products. Tom’s tenure at Maxim included building the domestic and international sales organizations, including Maxim Europe, which Tom ran for over six years from Munich, Germany. Upon return from Europe, Tom worked with Maxim’s CEO to develop Maxim’s Business Plan for the automotive market before assuming the Product Marketing and New Product Definition responsibility for one of Maxim’s Business Units. His most recent role was running the North American Sales and Applications organization reporting directly to Maxim’s President.
